Classes Starting Up Next Week!

Gifted Program Classes begin next week and Mrs. Evans is looking forward to starting off the year with the students.  Ms. Thompson is on medical leave, but will return after the winter break.

Mrs. Evans and Ms. Thompson have done some planning together and are pretty excited about this year's theme.  Check out the animation below (if it doesn't show up, go here).  Pengy the Penguin is trying to figure out what the theme for the Gifted Program is this year.  He will get lots of clues; see if you can figure out the theme too!  Click on the green flag to start the animation.

Start-Up Schedule

Early dismissal has wreaked a bit of havoc with the start-up schedule for Gifted classes.  Normally I do not adjust the schedule due to early dismissal since every elementary school has a different schedule and my students come from a variety of different schools.  For two of the classes though, all but one student had early dismissal on what was to be their first Gifted class.  For those two classes only (Tues pm and Weds pm) I have adjusted the schedule and notified the families. 
So, here is the updated schedule for class start-up:

Tuesday afternoon: AIM/ASPIRE first class October 27th.
Wednesday morning: Penticton grade 5s first class October 21st
Wednesday afternoon: Penticton grade 4s first class October 28th
Thursday afternoon: Penticton 1 - 3s first class October 22nd

Class Schedule for 2015-16

E-mails have been sent out to families with their child's class time. Below is the overall schedule for Gifted Program classes this school year. In addition, if you click on the 'Calendar' tab at the top of this page you will be taken to a calendar showing all of the class times for the year. Classes will start up the week of October 19th. More information will be posted here and e-mailed home closer to the start of classes.  Cheers!

Welcome Back!

Welcome back!  I hope that students and their families have had a good summer and that the transition to back to school this week goes well. 

Gifted classes will start up right after Thanksgiving (the week of October 14th).  This week I will be working on finalizing class lists, as well as securing dates for parent nights, hopefully to be held in the fourth week of September.  Once this information is finalized I will be sending it out to families and schools.

I am looking forward to working with the students; October seems so far off!  Along with students from the Penticton, Kaleden, and Naramata schools it is my pleasure to be working with students from Giant's Head and Trout Creek this year (I can't wait to meet you!) 

It's going to be a great year!  I've got some ideas and plans in the works, but they are always just a starting point; the passions and interests of the students really drive where we go.
